If your heating system doesn’t start, here’s what you can do before placing a service call:

  1. If you have an oil burning system, make sure there is oil in your tank
  2. Confirm that your emergency switch is on (don’t forget, you may have two)
  3. Verify that the circuit breaker for your system hasn’t tripped
  4. If you have a programmable thermostat, make sure it’s working properly and there’s not an issue with the app (note: Your service plan doesn’t cover thermostats)
  5. Make sure your thermostat is in “heat” mode
  6. Check the batteries in your thermostat, and finally,
  7. Push the “reset” button (one time only)
